PRIORAT WINE TOUR

Bikecat offers this very special cycling tour in Catalonia through some of the best vineyards in Spain.
 
You will learn and be guided by local wine experts/makers, enjoying the luxury of your hotels and the Mediterranean coastline while we lead you to visit 4 of Spain’s most famous wine regions: The D.O. (Denominació d’Origen or Appellation of Origin) of PRIORAT, MONTSANT, PENEDÈS and CAVA. Discover the spectacular landscapes, cuisine and culture Catalonia has to offer.
 
We have prepared a trip of 8 days / 7 nights and 6 riding days. We will transfer you from Barcelona to Falset, where we will stay for 3 nights to explore the spectacular Priorat and Montsant areas. We will learn about the winemaking process in this small but region and taste some of its renowned wines.

Our next stop is La Selva del Camp, where we will relax at a luxurious hotel and visit the nearby Poblet Monastery. Discover the enchanting Prades Mountains and the many surprises in store.

We will then ride to our final destination by the sea, Sitges, a lively and picturesque fishing village that will be our base to explore the nearby Penedès and Cava regions. Ride through wide expanses of vineyards and enjoy visiting a winery along the way.

And to enhance your experience, we’ve included the Bikecat classics: carefully selected restaurants along the route and relaxing dinners at the end of each day, offering the perfect pairing of cycling, wine, and gastronomy.

The Riding

Since I was a boy, the monasteries of La Ruta del Cister and the Montsant-Prades mountain ranges have always captivated my imagination. Feeling like an explorer, I found these mystic places after crossing virgin woodlands and mountains.
 
Years later, our growing interest in wine brought us back. Having trained and raced in the area in the past, combining cycling with the discovery of these hidden treasures was something we simply had to do.

Now, we have put together this tour for both cyclists and wine lovers alike. Join us with your friends or group for a truly unique experience.

During the Priorat Wine Tour, we will start with challenging rides through the steep slopes of the Montsant and Priorat wine-growing regions. The remote roads will be our gateway to exploration, and the villages and monasteries along the way reveal the region’s ancient history. The wild hills and landscapes of the area will tell us about the story of its wine.

We will end our trip along the Mediterranean coast, riding through the extensive inland vineyards where Cava is produced. Visit some of the most renowned caves and Penedès vineyards.

The Wine

Wine has been cultivated here since pre-Roman times and has endured invasions by Barbarians, Moors, and even the phylloxera plague of the 19th century.

Now, as international fame reaches the once-quiet towns of the wine country, you have the chance to visit the cellars before they become mainstream. Talk with local farmers and winemakers who manage every aspect of the process, and see the sparkle in their eyes as you taste their wines.
