Bikecat Mallorca Tour

MALLORCA

As many of you already know, Mallorca has become the island for cycling. The quiet, undulating roads are idyllic as they cut through olive groves, forests and along the coast. Cyclists can enjoy an easy spin on the flatter roads by the water or a hard thrash over the mountains. The island has become a destination for cycle tourists as well as professional teams. Not only are the roads ideal for cycling, but the productive land also provides fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat to fuel our rides.

Generations of professional cyclists have built the foundation of their racing season at team training camps on the island. Brad Wiggins and Jan Ullrich trained on the roads here on their way to winning the Tour de France, while Mark Cavendish and Erik Zabel prepared their victories in one of cycling’s monuments, Milan-San Remo.

Over the week, we will ride through the countryside, stopping in centuries old towns for coffee or lunch, then grunt our way over the climbs and whirl down the descents. Each day our journey will bring new adventures where we challenge ourselves, bond as a group and discover the island.

The Tour

With the Tramuntana Mountains as our main stage, we’ve designed this tour which will take us on all the iconic rides of the island, while also providing a glimpse into the charming Mallorca countryside, and the dramatic coastal scenery.

We start in the north near Sa Pobla, Mallorca’s main agricultural area with its endless potato and artichoke fields. The setting is adorned with centuries’ old windmills, and is only a half an hour ride away from the northern coast near Pollença.

From here we do 3 rides which showcase the diversity of the Mallorcan landscape and terrain. Through the undulating heart of the island up to Cura Monastery, to the sheer cliffs of the most northerly point of the island, the iconic Cap Formentor Lighthouse, and along the Binissalem wine country and the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana.

An epic ride deep into the mountains will take us to the world famous Sa Calobra after which we carry on past the two main water reservoirs, Cuber and Gorg Blau, before we take the brilliant descent into Port de Soller and the jaw-dropping Jumeirah Hotel, our base for the next three days.

From Port de Soller, the terrain only gets hillier, with a fun ride along the picture-perfect villages of Deia, Valldemossa and the valley of Orient, then saving the best for last, the stunning rollercoaster like ride along the southwestern coast.
